Soft Pastels

Soft Pastels

Soft pastels are made from ground pigments and a binder such as tragacanth gum or gum arabic.  There is minimal binders added  – that is why pastels will smudge.  They are not made with chalk and are a genuine art material used to create art.  The finish on a pastel painting is matte and one should seal the work to minimize smudging.  We carry several brands of soft pastels.
